My favorite marketing quotes

We live by how we think & believe. And powerful quotes make us think, make us believe. Here are some of my favorite quotes on marketing.

marketing quotes

“If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
– Henry Ford

“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself.”
– Peter F. Drucker

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
– Peter F. Drucker

“For a business not to advertise is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing but no one else does”
– Stuart H. Britt

“Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd.”
– P. T. Barnum

“Next to doing the right thing, the most important thing is to let people know you are doing the right thing.”
– John Rockefeller

And the fable of rabbit’s marketing:

Said a tiger to a lion as they drank beside a pool, “Tell me, why do you roar like a fool?”
“That’s not foolish,” replied the lion with a twinkle in his eyes.  “They call me king of all the beasts because I advertise.”
A rabbit heard them talking and ran home like a streak.  He thought he would try the lion’s plan, but his roar was a squeak.  A fox came to investigate – and had his lunch in the woods.
The moral: When you advertise, be sure you’ve got the goods!

And finally..

“To sound like an expert, hire one”
– Harry Beckwith

HTML5 is the upcoming standard language for web content. Using HTML5, along with static pages, interactive content can be displayed on HTML5 compatible browsers or devices. While HTML5 is not fully developed yet, it is an ongoing standard and most functions are now supported by modern browsers, such as Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer 8. You can check the overall browser and device compatibility for HTML5 here. And HTML5 compatibility score of your browser that you are using can be found here. Google Chrome seems to be the most HTML5 ready browser for now.

It is important to know that HTML5 is a set of standards to make the online content better rather than a single improvement. Also HTML5 is backward compatible, meaning that what can be used in older browser using HTML4 can be used using HTML5 as well. Its just that now you can do much more. So, as a developer, you don’t need to forget everything you know about HTML, you just might want to learn new things to build better web with HTML5. The upcoming HTML5 allows you to easily include rich media,  client side data storage and interactive documents among others. You can learn the new tags and attributes for HTML5 here. Also HTML5 validator (experimental) is available here.

So, should you be worried with your existing website for HTML5? The answer is mostly no. Your current website will continue to work fine, but you may want to convert it to new version to enjoy the full features of HTML5. Some interesting experiments on HTML5 can be found here.
